I’m a longtime whitewater boater who doesn’t get out much anymore and who is less ambitious than when I was younger. I’m in good condition, 68 years old, have paddled the Grand Canyon twice (years ago of course!) and done a lot of paddling on the Arkansas River in Colorado, along with many trips to West Virginia (all of those were long ago) including paddling the New and both the upper and lower Gauley (long time ago). Last did The Numbers on the Ark about three or four years ago and not sure I’m up for that again though I do have the skills for it.
Current boat is Liquidlogic Remix 69, demo purchased from CKS (Colorado Kayak Supply) several years ago. Still getting to know the boat but like her a lot! Generally have had a reliable combat role but haven’t really had it tested in awhile. I’m looking for somebody who knows the river or a small group to paddle on a section of the Penobscot that is mainly Class III or III/IV. The date would be July 17th, the day after Healing the Wounds of Turtle Island gathering at Nibezun, near Passadumkeag, ends, which is July 16th. That is really why I am headed up that way. I’m late getting this posted so please respond ASAP. I leave in the morning from Iowa and won’t bring my boat unless I have a connection.
